The Museum is one of its kinds in India. It showcases the evolution of Bengal Art from colonial times. It includes traditional art forms, group movements and works from pioneering stalwarts to new breeds of artists.
Our collection covers Chorbagan Prints, Kalighat Pats and works of pioneers like Thomas & William Daniell, Abanindranath Tagore, Gaganendranath Tagore, Ramkinkar Baij. Hemendranath Mazumdar and Jamini Roy to Jogen Chowdhury, Paritosh Sen, Somenath Hore and others. While the contemporary artists are represented by Chittrovanu Mazumdar, Jayashree Chakravarty and Pankaj panwar to Shipra Bhattacharya and Samir Roy among others.
The Museum currently has in its possession more than 500 artworks. The collection is arguably, the most important body of Modern Bengal Art.
