A piece of art can stimulate myriad emotions. It can stir the soul or make the heart bid. It can be a burst of raw energy or a wave of pristine calmness. An artist is someone who emotes through expre-ssion. Encouragement and exposure or fodder for any talented artist. Being a practitioner myself. I understand the artist’s need for the right environment.
It is with great pleasure and not a little personal satisfaction. I give you ArtsAcre Foundation. A world class integrated Arts Facility for the talented to hone their skill and learn more. A cherished dream is beginning to see the light of the day.
ArtsAcre is equipped with everything an art lover can ask for an idyllic setting. The Museum of Bengal Modern Art Galleries with curated short term exhibitions, Museum Shop and Book Store, Conservation. Eatery, Auditorium, workshops and Studios, open air Theater, Guest Apartments, Conference facilities and more.
A dedicated team comprising our trustees, advisers, passionate colleagues and I have been pouring our heart and soul into making the project real.
The ArtsAcre Foundation was inaugurated on 6 March 2014 by Mamata Banerjee, Chief Minister of West Bengal, and luminaries from major Arts from across India – Mahashweta Devi, Dr. Karan Singh, Dr. M. Balamurallkrishna, Pandit Birju Maharaj, Anjolie Ela Menon – witnessed by a remarkable gathering of connoisseurs from all walks of life – punctuated with a lyrical presentation replete with Music and Poetry.
The Sarala – Basant Birla Auditorium was inaugurated subsequently by MK Narayanan, Governor of West Bengal in the presence of Sarala and Basant Birla. We are grateful to several patrons of the Arts for their generosity. Now, with a little support from you, we can realise this dream together. Making ArtsAcre Foundation much more than the dream that started it all.
